About me

Kyprianos Dimosthenous wears many creative hats. He is an artist, a painter, and a sculptor, and has also dabbled in directing and cinematography. He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury in 2019 and holds an MA (Distinction) in Theater Arts from Middlesex University. He also has a Cinematography Certificate from London Film Academy. His artistic endeavors began from a young age when developed a fascination with design, modeling and the three-dimensional crafting of organic forms. This passion blended seamlessly with his love for film, and his goal is to combine his two interests to become a successful special effects artist or production designer in the film and theater industries.

His skills include sculpting using different types of clay, brush painting, spray painting, airbrushing, model making using a variety of materials and different kinds of moulds. He is also adept in foam sculpting, wood carving and puppetry animation. He can design characters/creatures, costumes and sketch sets on paper that he can then proceed with constructing (life size as well as miniatures). He can also design and build complex mechanisms from scratch.

Additionally, his film experience includes directing actors and crews for films and theatre productions, preparing storyboards, cinematography (lenses and camera operating), stage lighting design (lighting equipment operating), video editing (film and green screen), photography, stop motion animation and scriptwriting.

History

  • 2014: Awarded Saatchi Gallery/Deutsche Bank art prize for schools.
  • 2015: Awarded 1st place (Team award) in the competition of “F1 in Schools” in Cyprus and participated in the worldwide competition in Austin, Texas.
  • 2015: Awarded 1st place in an art competition of “The Fight Against Drug Abuse” in Cyprus.
  • 2016: Awarded 1st prize for Magazine Photographic Contest at the University of the Creative Arts.
  • 2016 – 2017: Exhibited at Cyprus Comic-Con.
  • 2019: Graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Arts from University for the Creative Arts Canterbury.
  • 2020: Graduated with an MA (Distinction) Theatre Arts from Middlesex University London.
  • 2021: Cinematography Certificate from London Film Academy.
